The Canadian Cowboy Challenge 

Riverwood Ranch is excited to host our 4th Annual Canadian Cowboy Challenge. Join us for an exciting weekend full of horsemanship, obstacles and fun!

Event Itinerary

August 31st (Saturday)- Obstacle Play Day
Hours of Operation: 10am- 5pm
$25 a dollars per horse

Riders of all levels and ages are welcome to come to the obstacle play day. Bring your horse and try a variety of obstacles for desensitization practice. Both our man made and trail courses will be available! We encourage all riders to work at your own pace and enjoy the day! Riders are allowed to come and go from the course as they please throughout the time period. Wranglers will be available at all times to help riders achieve their goals. There is no pre-registration required for this event.


September 1st (Sunday)- Canadian Cowboy Challenge

  • Prizes available in each class
  • Points awarded as per CCC regulations
  • All levels of experience are welcome! This will be a family friendly event so feel free to join in on the fun or come spectate


September 2 (Labour Day Monday)- River Run Trail Ride

Now that you have competed in the challenge, utilize the horsemanship and skills you have gained to master the open trail.  Join us on our annual River Run Trail Ride as we head out on the slopes of the Pembina River. The River Run is a full day trail ride where riders will explore the Pembina Valley.  With a minimum of six river crossings, this is a scenic day for anyone looking to relax out on the water. The day will be full of beautiful river views! A home cooked country lunch and dinner are also included! Reservation is required so please contact us for more information and pricing.

  • This event is only welcome to riders with an intermediate or experienced riding level
  • All riders must be of 14 years of age
  • Riverwood Ranch horse rentals are available for all experience levels if you wish to rent a horse 




Ranch Details

- Outdoor grass ranch course: Rain or Shine: Man made and Trail Course provided 
- Concession will be provided for Sunday September 1st: competition day
- Camping is available: $25 per trailer rig for the WEEKEND. Riverwood Ranch has given a discount rate for the CCC Weekend
(unlimited horses.people: Rate based on trailers) Tents welcome. Free firewood!
- Horse stalls available upon registration. First come first serve VIA REGISTRATION. Call the ranch to RSVP a stall. High lines and self standing pannels will be accepted in designated areas upon confirmation
